Nirmaljyot charitable Trust is glad to announce the launch of eco-friendly Shree Ganesh clay idols exhibition, workshop and launch of website in association with Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, MCGM and Shri Sidhivinayak Temple Trust. Exhibition will be held at the premises of Shri Sidhivinayak Temple (New building) and will remain open from 24th April to 1st May 2012 for the booking of the pooja idols of Shree Ganesha for the coming Ganapati Mahotsav.

Nirmaljyot charitable trust have tied up with various reputed manufacturers of shadu Ganpati idols from Pen (near Panvel) to exhibit their collections at the venue. More than 150 types of Ganesh idols from various places in Maharashtra shall be on display for booking and sale. The mission and idea of exhibition is to provide a platform for procurement of shadu Ganesh Idols for coming Ganpati festival.

Launch of website will help to educate the devotees to adopt eco-friendly behaviour and create environmental awareness amongst citizens of Mumbai. Ganesh devotees will be able to interact, order and view Ganesh idols. Devotees will have better understanding about spiritual and cultural ideas behind worshiping Lord Ganpati. This has been obscured of late by recent trends.

Workshop-vidya on clay idols will inculcate knowledge in the minds of next generation about how environment friendly are the clay idols and waive adverse effect of non-biodegradable material’s like POP, Thermocol and Plastic impact on environment pollution.

To motivate youth of Mumbai to be more responsible for environment Nirmaljyot Trust has also tied up with rotaract group to do street play, flash Mob innovative campaign to connect minds of people.

2011, Last year in Mumbai as per statistics provided by MCGM total no of idols in Ganeshotsav were:

Sarvajanic 9574

House hold idols 1, 63,192.

Total Immersion 1, 86,595.

Art Pond immersion 373

Art Pond Immersion house hold 13,456

More than 99% idols were immersed in the sea and more than 100 tonnes   of Nirmalaya was generated at various immersion point. This environmental inconsistency if left unaddressed could typically undermine the true celebration in the long run.

India has great spiritual and cultural tradition. Lord Ganesh is worshipped everyday at our homes, offices and factories. Lokmanya Tilak launched Sarvajanic Ganesh Mahotasav at the time when country was engrossed in freedom movement. He used to sit on river bank and made idols out of the mud. Today entire nation is fighting a different and a very important war against pollution.  Today industrialisation and urbanisation has already created a lot of damage to our ecological system. We have to inculcate the perspective of patriotism, spirituality and environment protection in our daily life and practise it. Festivals are to be celebrated in keeping with the spirit of eco-logical sustainment.

Why book so early?

Clay Ganpati idols are made before monsoon season. Once monsoon sets in, clay idols do not dry easily and hence making of clay idols must end in the month of May. The very purpose of holding this exhibition so much ahead of Ganesh Mahotsav is to help the devotees to get their idols at a reasonable price.  Also, due to surge in demand for Clay Idols in the month of September, the prices shoot up. Please note that Ganpati idols booked in exhibition will be delivered to the devotees from 11th to 16th September 2012. Home delivery facility will be available at an extra cost. May Lord Ganapati, who is giver of wisdom, give us all the wisdom and knowledge to celebrate the festival in its true sense and significance.

Be eco friendly, adopt Clay Idol
